The Potential Pool for Composers and Songwriters

The pool is aimed at applicants in all genres, and the applicant must be in a start-up/restart phase of his/her career. It can be young people who are at the start of their careers or others who are either at the start of their careers or, for example, return to the music scene after a break, for example after maternity/paternity leave, illness or something else, and therefore lack start-up support/restart support.

If you don't have a Danish MitId, you need to contact us no later than one week before the deadline.

Contact kodakultur@koda.dk

All composers and songwriters can apply for support from the pool, regardless of nationality and membership. The pool can thus be applied for by rights holders all over the world, regardless of membership of Koda or other rights organisations. The pool is aimed at applicants in all genres, and the applicant must be in a start-up/restart phase of his/her career.

Work grant.

Work grants are personal grants that aim to support the work of a composer or songwriter. Work grants are given as a financial subsidy to immerse oneself in the work of writing/composing music. The project you are applying for must relate to newly created music with your own works, where you are the author of all or parts of the work.

NB! Please note that you can only apply for one work grant at a time. This means that as long as you have an open work grant application where you have applied but have not yet received a response, you cannot apply for other work grants under Koda Culture.

Education grant.

Educational grants support shorter, non-SU-eligible educational courses such as mentorship, courses, continuing education and receiving private lessons in relation to compositional and artistic development, production skills, singing and voice training, etc.

A description of the mentor or teacher (CV and confirmation from the mentor/teacher) must be attached if you are applying for mentorship or private tuition, or you must document participation in any training course/course if you are applying for education.

Projektlegat.

Supports specific expenses for a project that results in a product, e.g. a publication, a concert or a PR product or PR campaign. All projects must relate to newly created music with their own works, where the applicant is the author of all or part of the work.

If individual works are included in the application that are not the applicant's own (e.g. covers, arrangements or adaptations of other people's works), the application must be justified, and this will be included as part of the assessment. In addition, a permit or power of attorney from the co-author must be uploaded.

To be completed in the application form (online)

  • Project description (1200 characters)
  • About me (Here you must explain why you are in the start-up phase)
  • Education (if you are a student). Here you must describe your educational conditions, including place and whether it is full-time/part-time/leave
  • Budget (does not apply to work grants)
  • Timetable

  • Confirmation and CV from mentor/teacher (if applying for classes)
  • If a project has previously been granted from the pool, it is not possible to apply for the same project again.
  • You may only submit one application per application deadline, and you can obtain a total of 3 grants from the pool. After this, you can apply for one of the other pools under Koda Kultur.
  • Purchase of equipment
  • Free music and other rights holders' music

The pool has two annual application deadlines.

Next application deadline: 23 January 2025

In 2025, the deadline is

January 23

August 14

We open for receipt of applications for the next round approx. 3 weeks before the deadline.

Applications for the pool are processed by a distribution committee. In 2025-2026, the committee consists of:

Marc Facchini (udpeget af Autor)

Alexandra Hallén (udpeget af DKF)

Viktoria Siff Hansen (udpeget af DPA)

Susanne Benz (udpeget af Musikforlæggerne)

All inquiries regarding your application must be made to the administrative staff. Contact with a committee member is considered an improper attempt to influence the processing of your application and may be a reason for rejection.

As a general rule, support amounts are given between DKK 5,000 and DKK 25,000.

No higher amounts are granted than have been applied for.

The funds for distribution in the pool are KulturPlus funds.

To receive funding, you must upload documentation that your project has been completed to your application before the deadline.

The documentation required is stated in your grant letter.

You can read more about the payment of support here.

Applicants will receive a response about 2 months after the application deadline. In the event of a refusal, one must be prepared for the fact that no individual reasons are given.
